Our Actions

Goal 13: CLIMATE ACTION

The overarching goal for all is to maintain a healthy planet and ensure its longevity. SDG13 exemplifies the widest-reaching action of tackling climate change and encourages everyone to act on the environmental issues threating our climate. Greenhouse gas emissions, missions from transportation, energy consumption, and waste disposal resulting from our operations are three key areas for action, and as a transportation company, we are keenly aware of the potential of our impact.

We understand the gravity of the climate situation, and are committed to reducing our impact through our operations, and encouraging better and cleaner habits within our people both at work and in their personal lives.

Commitment

We commit to reducing our carbon footprint and moving towards net-zero.

01

We will reduce our carbon footprint by 25% by 2030.

02

We will have our carbon targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative by 2025.

03

We will achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across all operations by 2045.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Given the complexity of Hegelmann’s operations and supply chain, we have partnered with Emitwise to calculate and record our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions so that we can better manage and address our carbon footprint.

Our GHG emissions are categorised into scopes 1, 2 and 3, in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol methodology. Scope 1 emissions are those we are directly responsible for since they are released from our own operations, scope 2 emissions are those we are indirectly responsible for since they come from the electricity we purchase, and scope 3 emissions are also those which we are indirectly responsible for and which come from every other activity in our value chain.

Warta River Cleanup

In April 2022, 26 members of our Hegelmann Poland team took part in a spring-cleaning campaign to clean the Warta River. Our colleagues collected over 100 bags of rubbish, including plastic and glass bottles, clothing, furniture and equipment parts.

The Warta River is a vital natural resource in our region, providing water for drinking, irrigation and recreation, and a foundation for biodiversity and marine ecosystems. By removing this rubbish from its waters, we are helping the river remain clean and healthy for future generations.
